Originally called Isola di San Vittore, with its 8 hectares it is the largest island in the Verbano area. It emerged in the Ice Age. Traces of the presence of small dwellings, a church and some plants used for the production of oil dating back to ,as early as the late 8th century were found. Today it is one of Europe’s most popular destinations and its park is home to a huge variety of plants and birds from all over the world.
Animals can travel on board, but are not allowed inside the Botanical Gardens and the Borromeo Palace.
